My nephew

Me: M- M- Mommy starts with EM.

Him: EM.

Me: D- D- Duck starts with DEE.

Him: DEE.

Me: W- W- Waffle starts with DOUBLE-YOU.

Him: DOUBLE ME?

I'm not sure he understood how this game worked. He'll catch on someday.

I think this is a good sign that he's an "outside of the box" thinker, Xister. You should encourage him when he figures out things like that!

We've attempted "W" again. Now we've added an animal and the actual letter as visual-aides. The conversation was a little different this time around though.

Me: Look, Son. Wuh, Wuh, Whale. "W." Whale.
Son: What?!
Me: See? A "W."
Son. No, no, no. Not double-you. Just double-vee.
Me: Oh, yeah! I'm so silly. Double-vee.
Son: Silly Mommy. Whale. Double-vee.
